I posted this in my journal but thought it would be worthy of a repost here...

Warner Home Video has announced the fourteen-disc Superman: The Ultimate Collection which includes Superman Returns: Special Edition, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman: The Movie Four-Disc Special Edition, Superman II Two-Disc Special Edition and Superman III and IV Deluxe Editions. The set also offers 20 hours of extra content, including the documentaries You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman and Look Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman and Returns director Bryan Singer’s video journal. The Ultimate box will be encased in a keepsake tin and includes a reproduction of the Superman comic book issue No. 7, a Superman overview booklet and a mail-in offer for five Superman theatrical movie posters. For details on the individual releases, please refer to the related articles at the bottom of this page. We've attached a series of official package shots below:

I knew this was coming but to finally see the box and packaging etc has sent me over the edge. As stated above, the box includes Superman Returns: Two Disc Special Edition, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, (which is a brand new version of the movie never before seen, so in essence a brand new Superman film starring Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman and Marlon Brando), Superman: The Movie Four-Disc Special Edition, Superman II Two-Disc Special Edition (the original theatrical cut of the movie, the one I grew up with) and Superman III and IV Deluxe Editions. The amount of new material on these discs alone is staggering. The documentary You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman is a three hour behind the scenes look on the making of the original four films, which was made exclusively for this DVD release. There is also a documentary on that disc entitled The Heart of a Hero: Remembering Christopher Reeve which I also cannot wait to see.

I know many of you do not care but for me it's like having my childhood in a box. These are MY movies and to have it all together in an "ultimate" set like this is a dream come true. I can't wait for November 28th!!!

Warner has officially announced Superman Returns which stars Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey. The film will be available to own in single ($28.98) and double-disc ($34.99) editions from the 28th November. Each will carry a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. As far as we know, the single-disc will be featureless, whereas the two-disc edition will include over ten deleted scenes, along with nearly three hours of documentaries (Making Superman Returns: From Script to Screen, Designing Superman: From Art and Costume Design to Set Construction, The Joy of Lex: Behind the Scenes with actor Kevin Spacey, and How Filmmakers Recreated Jor-El). Lastly, HD DVD and Blu-ray releases will be available for around $34.99 a pop. Artwork is attached:

This is included in The Ultimate Superman Collection box and I couldn't be happier with what we are getting as special features. A THREE HOUR documentary on every aspect of the movie from casting onwards will be a marvel to watch. I'm also pumped to see the deleted scenes.

All this on one day..I hope my heart doesn't give out on me.
