That is sad, I only knew her really for a week, but she seemed like a really good dog. No thinking about that for Codi yet, he's stil a kitten. Enjoy him and love him. Cross that bridge when you come to it. Think you'll be getting another dog any time soon? Or going to stick to kitties?

Let's ignore the fact that we're not on good terms right now.

I'm sorry about Sasha. I know how hard it is to put a friend down. Awhile ago our golden retriever TC drank antifreeze and died. I spent the entire day bawling my eyes out. And Megan, another one of our dogs, was put down on my birthday a few years back... it's always sad because for a week or so afterwards you don't know what to do.

But at the point she was, you were being the best friend to her you could be. When Codi is old and ill and you do that to him, you'll be doing it as a friend - taking his pain away like only someone close could.

Don't worry about it so much. By the time he's put down, you'll have lived so much it'll seem like a long needed nap for him.

Good terms or not, thank-you. I didn't realize, before Saturday, how often I interacted with the dog, just doing things around the house. Like making sure doors were closed, her food and water were good, or you know, just making sure she was alive and not a dust mop outside.

And you're right about Codi- I plan on having that cat for years to come, so I won't worry about him for a long while.
