Sam was curled up in the chair by Tim's bed, her head resting just on the edge of his pillow as she slept. She'd arrived while Tim had been out cold again, and for the first ten minutes she'd been reading one of his X-Men comics, but the exhaustion was slowly catching up with her and before she knew it she had fallen asleep

"Hey," Tim said hoarsely, blinking slowly as his own brain struggled with the fact he was awake. Clearly it was still of mind that he shouldn't be. "How long have ya' been here?"

Sam rubbed at her eyes and lifted her head as she tried to find a clock before remembering that she had a watch on. "Couple hours, I guess. I was just gonna sit quietly, but then I musta just nodded off." She wiped at the corner of her mouth and gave him a sheepish smile. Really nodded off if the drool was any indication.

Tim nodded. "They're druggin' me. I dunno if I could handle the whole thing any other way. Offerin' sleepin' pills... Coach told me t'take 'em. Said there was no reason why I couldn't jus' sleep t'get through it. Can't really want a beer when I'm sleepin' an' shit..." He wet his lips and scratched a little at the edge of the dressing on his forehead. "My brain feels like it's tryin' to claw it's way outta my ears."

"Then ya should sleep all ya want. I was readin' this thing 'bout when they induce comas, or somethin' 'cause the withdrawal is so bad..." she trailed off as she bit her lip and watched him. She knew it had to be bad for Tim. Sam shifted in her seat as she uncurled and eased herself onto the bed beside him and draped her arm over his stomach. "It's gotta hurt, but I'm kinda grateful I get little moments t'talk to ya and see ya."

Tim shook his head. "I ain't gonna ask ya' t'stay, S. That would be stupid because I ain't gotta clue what's gonna happen with me. Been applyin' for scholarships usin' that tape Six made f'me. Maybe I still won't even go t'college. But look. Ya' got accept t'college like ya' wanted and didn't think ya' would! I can't ask ya' t'stay, S. Ya' gotta do this, just like J did when he up and left for east last time."

"I'm still gonna be ya girl though, right? No matter what, I'll still be ya girl, won't I?" Sam knew he was right. Deep down, she knew it. And telling her to go just made Sam love Tim even more. He was looking after her.

Tim smirked slightly at her. "S, ya' gotta stop bein' so insecure. Ya' my girl. Ya' never used t'be like that. Is it my fault ya' worryin' so much?"

Sam smiled sheepishly as she looked up at him. "Ain't ever been the girlfriend of someone I really loved before, so yeah, it kinda is ya fault. I'll get over it, I promise."
