I am going to post about a really boring week I had! Mostly because I look pictures. I had to go back to Ottawa for a week. I was bored. I mostly made sushi and volunteered at my dad's church (???-that happened a bit by accident). I bought some awesome stuff at the garage sale they had, though;

A SALT AND PEPPER SHAKER (oh my god) and an ashtray that I like to think came from the CN Tower. You are welcome to question my taste.

A set of cassettes with all sorts of awesome music spanning several decades (I only don't like the '80s ones, that kind of music is intolerable and Cyndi Lauper's not included on the tapes), an old honey jar bought because of the German lulz, and a Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends dildo (because I refuse to believe that anything shaped like that that vibrates can be anything else).

Sushi! The one on the left is the first attempt: sweet potato baked in peanut oil and soy sauce with the fabulous curry powder I found in Dubai and continually have my aunt send me jars of, and tofu fried in the same ingredients. It was successful and would be recreated later in the week. The one on the right, however, was kind of gross. I decided to get a little wacky and make tropical-themed sushi (rice flavoured with coconut milk, with banana and pineapple as the filling). It would have worked, but for two things: pineapple tastes awful with seaweed, and sushi needs to sit out for long periods of time which is something bananas really can't do. Overall, though, I'm quite proud that I can make sushi based on what I remember from learning how to do it years ago (though I can't remember who taught me how?). I'm now really getting into Japanese cuisine: I've been spending my life on Just Bento saving recipes and drooling. This weekend I'm going to start buying ingredients for some bento recipes. I have a kitchen now!

Brief interlude to laugh at my cat who got stuck up there.

I also met up with Marisha to go buy more tacky things at Value Village (a requisite activity!) and have poutine and free milkshakes at The Works (one of two things I miss in Ottawa).

Other than that, yesterday I moved in with my aunt and uncle so that I can stay in Toronto and have, since then, mostly been playing We Love Katamari. Things to look forward to this month: Islands' CD release (holy shit holy shit FINALLY), Islands show, hopefully getting a better job. Things to look forward to next month: Adam Green show, trip to my cottage, Pride, George Orwell's birthday and also mine.
