Honestly, I don't know what I love about this more: that John's Patronus is a fluffy, cute, totally BAMF dog (of course it is), the "Fuck your diet" (Chocolate helps, Mycroft! Trust him!), or the utterly heartbreaking poignancy of the fact Mycroft knows the worst thing he can imagine is something happening to his brother when he fails to protect him, while the worst thing Sherlock can imagine is the same thing... except happening to John. Ouch. And yes.

"Yet again, the world has brought Sherlock to his knees, and Mycroft should have been there to take the blow for him." <- THIS.

Love that canon line. Had to get it into this fic somewhere. :D

I knew that John's Patronus was totally going to be cuddly and cute, but able to put up its own in a fight when needed. I was tempted by a Border Collie (those things look possessed when they're angry) but then a very nice person on Gallifrey Base told me about the kuchi dog, which is large, fluffy, ferocious and NATIVE TO AFGANISTAN. Yeah. So if you were interested, that's what John's patronus is.
