The question you are essentialy asking here, "what do I want to do", is the wrong question to ask. What you do want to ask is "what do I want to be?". And I believe, or at least hope, that just about every person will respond with the same answer: "I want to be happy". For me, happyness is the ultimate goal. If I am happy, I need nothing else. And there's nothing more to it, really. The whole scenario of "what do I want to do" is simply a response to a capitalist form of society, where you must do in order to be. If you manage to break away from this system, either physicaly or mentally, I promise you that you can be without actually doing. You stated it in your own post: right now, you're just hanging out, though alone. Go out, find people to hang out with. I don't mean a good group of friends, just find people and spend the evening relaxing with them (or in any other way you enjoy yourself).

Good! Then get working on that. What kind of changes do you want to make? What sort of good impression do you want to leave? A giver to the poor? Spend a weekend helping out in New Orleans or something, and after that volunteer in someplace. Want to help people achieve the best of their own lives? Look for jobs in social counceling (or whatever it's called). The first step to having someone miss you is finding a someone.

Military is obviously not for you Peterson, so i would recommend just hanging around in the half dream state you are in and eventually it will come to you what you need to do. You are the only person who will know that. The military will not give you a goal in life, just something to do. I haven't even figured out my own goals beyond college and im happy with that because even if you have short term goals like that, which im sure you do, then that is enough. Planning an entire lifetime is impossible because there are far too many contingencies in the planning so just stick to the basics and find something to occupy you that allows you to do what you want, not what is assigned to you.
