She did fine! Thank you so much for asking! We were never able to get a pill in her, so she just had to travel unsedated. For the first two flights (Kunming to Beijing then Beijing to Vancouver) she had to travel with the cargo which terrified us all, but she made out safe. For the Vancouver to Portland flight, though, they let her sit with us and that made me feel much better.

It's nice to have her here!

A big part of the mark up is Whole Foods. That place is a fucking scam. At least they sell it bulk, though, that probably amounts to a big discount. The place in Berkeley I by all my produce from sells tea and spices bulk for approximately 10% of the cost of packaged equivalents. A month worth of curry powder? $2.

Seems like you've got a good deal going for you down there. Whole Foods is an interesting phenomenon, and I am sure you are right at some level. Safeway and Rosaurs, however, have no loose leaf tea at all, so there you go.

I mainly shop at Whole Foods because they sell an organic pizza sauce that I cannot get for cheaper elsewhere.

Maybe if the grad school thing doesn't work out, you could go into the tea import business? There's a great opportunity to rip off hippies educate people about the virtues of tea.

Tea is an interesting product. The US is one of the only places in the world where the majority of tea is consumed in tea bag form. It's really not the best way, in my opinion, but it's what people are used to.

Perhaps my dream business could be a game cafe that served loose leaf tea by the pot! I could educate people about tea and board games AT THE SAME TIME.

Feel no shame about shopping at Whole Foods. Dan might think that it is entirely a rip-off, but their policy towards their workers is far more humane than the majority of grocery store chains, and that matters.

I think it could work, but you need to offer a system of board game rentals. I went to store in Berlin that was like that.
