Seriously answering the question, I curse, mainly because I find it as a violence free way to vent my frustration. I'd take heartless and stupid over violent and stupid.
there are several reasons, yes it's annoying but you have to view things from other perspectives.
1. As that person said, it is a nonviolent way to vent. 2. People don't know better. You're lucky to grow up in a swear free inviroment, but if your parents did nothing but swear at each other and you all day what else would you know to do? 3. Fitting in. Sadly enough, many people follow the philosophy of "If you can't beat them, join them." Everyone else swears, why stand out more?
I don't swear at all. It definitely helps when you work where I do. I get teased for it, but some people find my substitute swearing kinda endearing. I'm cute like that. I don't mind it too much when people swear, but secretly, it does make me look down on them. People who use those words three times per sentence... let's not go there.
