America views Canada as his awkward little brother who looks up to him, and is unaware that feelings are different on Canada's end. He likes to tease him, but he means it good-naturedly. Canada wouldn't be his first choice of person to hang out with, but he loves him.

A turbulent relationship he can't put into words. England raised him and he has fond and loving memories of his childhood. He also knows that no one cares about him more than England does. But dealing with England is frustrating; he's patronizing and smothering and disapproving, and despite his best efforts to get along America always winds up making fun of him or fighting with him. Even though he knows England loves him, he doesn't feel that England likes him. He wants England's respect and approval and would like them to be friends, but he doesn't think this will ever happen and would never admit to feeling that way. Still, England is the person he feels closest to and he loves him very much.
