Chris might have grown used to filing long ago, but that didn't mean he'd ever managed to find it any more interesting over the years. If anything, it only seemed more boring now. Something he'd never have believed possible when he'd had his first filing job pushed on him. It didn't seem fair that out of everything that had changed over the ( Read more... )

OOC: Holy crap this got long and rambly, blame Sally! pi_sparrow August 23 2010, 05:43:59 UTC
Sally balanced the full mug of steaming tea carefully in one hand, her other occupied holding a large stack of old casefiles to be archived. They'd been sitting on the filing cabinet in the corner for easily some five months gathering dust, and finally realizing that no one else was going to take care of it, Sally had taken the initiative. Little things like that seemed to be slipping through the cracks lately. The Guv had never given a flying toss, obviously, but Alex...well. Alex would have, but the DI had been singularly distant as of late, even to her flatmate ( ... )

OOC: Make me feel as though I'm writing you a short reply, why don't you? superskelton August 23 2010, 07:38:48 UTC
As the pile of remaining files went down, so did Chris' already wavering attention span, and his efficiency with it. He couldn't help jumping when he heard the door creak open, eyes darting guiltily to the remaining files, knowing there were probably a few more than there should be left still. He wasn't sure who he was expecting, really. The Guv, perhaps, coming down to check his progress. Or his proper Guv, to tell him off for listening to Keats and drag him off to do something else. He'd never been all that close to Sally, but it was a relief to see her standing there instead. And after being down here so long, the tea was more than welcome ( ... )

Re: OOC: Sorry! pi_sparrow August 23 2010, 15:18:34 UTC
Sally raised an eyebrow, the kind that gently showed her skepticism while she wondered just how Keats had drilled that sentence into Chris' head to well. She wasn't even sure the DC knew what efficiency meant, let alone could spell it.

"Right, well, whatever you say", she shrugged off noncommittally, moving towards one of the cabinets to file the cases tucked under her arm away. The cabinet was neatly labeled with '1982, M-Z', and opening it, she sorted the first file in it's correct place under 'Robbery, Bank'.

Chris wasn't quite sure whether Sally's help meant he should be carrying on, or if he was meant to be letting her do it. He'd feel even more useless if he just stood around, but Sally had never been too impressed on the occasions where he'd managed to mess up her system. He settled for straightening the pile, before he actually picked one up from it.

"Thought you liked filing, anyway," he muttered, still feeling put out. Her remaining scepticism didn't exactly help much. "You come down here often enough. Don't even get asked, half the time."

Sally had no choice but to stop by Luigi's after finishing up in the archives. She did live in the flat above the restuarant after all. She'd left the file of interest on Chris' desk, just so he wouldn't have to disturb her organization to locate it again. There may or may not have been a small note slipped into the file, remarking that it was an odd read, and where to locate similar cases in the archives if he wished ( ... )

Chris had all but forgotten the file by the time Sally showed up in Luigi's. The whole point of drinking after work was to forget about it and Chris had become very good at switching off down the boozer over the years. The offer of a drink he'd made Sally was the last thing on his mind, so he didn't protest when all she did was wish Alex a goodnight before heading for the flat they shared ( ... )
