Okay, I am going to buy an mp3 player... what do I need to know?

You need to know that there is a well-travelled player sitting homeless in a paper bag in my flat. It has Afghan dust on it and needs a new home.

you need to really decide what you want it for first.

Do you need heaps of storage space or just a little. Battery life? Compatability with your PC and your Media Player. Do you want to take it running/exercisin

I got a 4 gig ipod mini, I use it mainly for walkin/driving and listening to music and recorded lectures or audio books. I really like iTunes so the software linking is easy.

After that just go for the one that has all the features you need and is cheapest :P

Hmmm... thanks for the advice... I have about 7GB stored on my work machine, so I may need a reasonably sized one... are there no-no brands?
