I do have to give the officer the tiniest crumb of kudos for resigning, if he is, in fact, resigning out of shame and taking responsibility for his actions. If he's resigning because he now sees that he's unfit to be a cop, then that's a good sign...

The only people fit to be cops in the first place are complete nutcases. I noticed that they are either usually people who were bullies or jocks in school, or that little weird guy everyone picked on for being small and annoying. The latter are the worst. They're the little short cops with the smug faces and the attitude problems. The former have generally worked it out of their system and can usually be negotiated with.
Assholes.
I don't care for the police and this whole business just clinches it.
I am going to live in the mountains and write. Well, forest maybe. I don't think I care for living in the mountains. But perhaps that was just asheville.

I have one friend that is a cop. Oh, he wasn't a cop when I MET HIM, I assure you. He was a broadcast major in college, and said he didn't make a high enough overall average when he graduated and therefore couldn't work in that field. He swears he's happy as a cop. I wonder when the fuck he'll wake up.
Needless to say, my opinion of him has taken a steep nosedive, and for much more reasons than his profession. We don't talk much. Actually, it's been 2 1/2 years since we HAVE spoken...
