damned protestants.

So, I, out of curiosity today, typed in "goth christian" on yahoo to see what it would come up with. Apparently, there is a gothic christianity movement and who is it run by but protestants. Which pretty much means it's a lame tactic to convert troubled teens. If one is going to be goth and christian, one ought to be at LEAST an old rite catholic ( Read more... )

I sincerely loathe modern Christian music - pop rock and ugh I can't even express my contempt for Christian Rap music ~shudder~ I do not want to "raise the roof" for the Lord...

I went to college with an awful lot of young bible thumping virgins...one of them was my roommate whom I greatly respected and loved but one of her friends once accused me of being "old fashioned and archaic" (which ~laughing~ is true in the oddest ways) to which I responded "No, I just believe in good music. And if anyone is going to 'burn in hell' it's all these new wave suck ass musicians, for bad music Christian or Secular, is surely sacrilege."

It makes me glad that most people still think this way. It isn't the lyrical content that bothers me, since I am (mostly?) Christian...it's just the fact that the music is utter crap at best, and that it tends to be sacrilegious at worst. One should not put words into the mouth of God, His Son, or His prophets, and many of these songs do just that. (Even the "folk liturgy" of the modern, anally-raped-by-political-correctness Catholic church.)

Hellfire.

Amen. Everyone should leave Gothism to Roman Catholics and otherwise recovered Catholics.

Like myself. Ha.

Christian Goth just isn't goth without the Virgin Mary and rosaries and beatitudes and an unabridged bible! (not that I believe there really IS such a thing an an unabridged bible...)

Hello,. i saw that you added me on as a friend. and with this entry,.. i am yours.. lol.
protestants are my biggest annoyance. and being a Catholic Goth, i highly respect your opinion.

i used to listen to Christian music, but it's too shallow and way to prideful, correct me if i'm wrong, but heavy metal isn't even that prideful.

i used to get kicks off of arguing with Protestants. but it got nowhere. especially on the issue of the Blessed Virgin, i spent Months researching her perpetual virginity, to have one 'mormon' say in less than 10 seconds that "in the bible, it says that only Jesus was free of sin..." i could have strangled him.

well. anywhoo. i'm babbling.
Nice to meet you,

Elizabeth.

Good to meet you. Sorry I haven't written earlier; I've been away from the computer. I'm actually Orthodox Christian now, but true (prevatican-2) Catholicism is pretty dead on as well.

hrm.. Gothic in the sense of art (architecture, etc) would place back in the late 1300s so their music should really just consist of Gregorian Chant. Gothic in the sense of literature (i.e. Frankenstein by Mary Shelly) would place back in the 18th century, in which case the music should pretty much be classical.

that's dumb.

As far as the Christian Church goes, the music ought to be either Gregorian or Orthodox Chant anyway. It's a lot more stately and interesting, and the old Divine Liturgy was nearly completely chanted and sung instead of all the talking that we have these days.

Mmm, ecclesiastical modes.

What's dumb, by the way? The protestant christian awfulness?
