who decides to start a book with a fake translation note?
it’s entirely ridiculous. and stupid.
it’s basically saying that you want no credit for the long-winded book you’re writing.
clearly this geoffrey was touched in the head.
and i haven’t even begun the text yet.

leir is the worst character yet.
love is an abstract concept and cannot be measured, much less used to divvy up land.
this is ridiculous.

the civil war was at least exciting.
though the sack of rome was stupid-why destroy a city when you might rule it instead?
apparently brothers fighting is the cornerstone of all great fiction.

finally. aurelius and uther. now we’re getting somewhere.
merlin may be a wizard, but he functions almost as their butler.
which is not a terrible thing, i suppose.

arthur may be a skilled warrior, but he is too ambitious.
if he hadn’t set his sights on europe, he would not have left britain exposed to modred.
who, by the way, acted entirely sensibly.
he saw an opportunity and took it-like aurelius and uther and arthur before him.
(not to mention the rest of them, who would take too long to list.)

constantine is not even worth mentioning.
and i find it too convenient that the saxons were held at bay until just this moment.
and oh look, they succeed eventually.
perhaps they weren’t wasting all that time after all.

it was intriguing.
a bit too fanciful.
and his language skills leave a lot to be desired.
