Major busy this week w/ midterms. Don't know when I can update again. Next section of Odd Couple is difficult.

They huddled together in secrecy for their plans by the thick oak tree in the far corner of the playground, surrounded by the walls of the school.
“But she’s scary.” Pete shook his head.
“Like Godzilla scary.” Clark agreed with fear.
Lex only slurped a gummy worm quietly in response.
“One less for you to eat.”
But Clark was only looking at his lips, while Pete was upset about the loss of the candy.
We shared. Should I ask for kisses now?
“I’ll throw in a favor too. Something else you really want.”
Lex kisses! Lex kisses!
“I’ll do it!” Clark rallied.
“It’s a dangerous job. Your mom won’t like it.”
You weren’t allowed to eat bugs or put them on people or make people eat bugs or bugs eat people. He’d asked more than once, just to make sure.
“No way. I’m going to do it, Clark. You just watch and see.” Pete was still eyeing the food.
“I thought she was scary.”
“I can take her.” Pete blushed.
But Clark had started running to his favorite mud patch to see what he could find. The ground was still muddy from the rain last night, so it would be easy to find them.
He plunged his hands into the murk, searching. He also enjoyed the feel of the cool mixture of dirt, grass, and water between his fingers. It was real nice. Clark wondered if Lex’s cheek would be this soft.
The tell tale moment under his hands said he’d captured his prey. He held it up. The struggling creature was fat and long and pink, glistening in the afternoon sun as if it’d been shined up for the occasion.
Pete was still searching when he looked.
Clark started moving before he could think what he was doing.
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!”
Lana did a strange dance and head bob trying to get the worm off. But it was kind of sticky, and ended up only falling down the back of her dress.
“You dumb boy!”
Then she really danced weird and fast like she was in a pow wow with her arms swinging around trying to reach. Mrs. Sanderson had to take her to the girls’ restroom to get it out.
“For goodness sakes, you’re only making it worse running around like that!”
Lex was smirking happily when he came back to the oak tree. He handed him a moist towelette that helped him clean his hands. Clark ended up coloring on the napkins Martha gave him. Lex always used his. And had spares.
“Satisfactory.”
“I did good?”
“Very good. Did you have a favor in mind?”
Woo! Kiss! Lex!
But when Clark came closer to the boy, he took a step back.
“Here’s the gummy worms.” He held them in front of him, as if to separate himself from Clark.
“I don’t want those now. I want the favor.”
“What else would you want?” Lex now frowned.
Now Lex was being cold, as if he was angry at him for asking. He took another step back to distance himself.
“I’ve got comic books and-”
“Don’t want stuff.”
And Clark wrapped his arms around the bald boy and hugged tight.
“Want you.”
