Stuffed with food, Clark led Lex to his Fortress. He didn’t know what kind of Fortress it was, but hopefully he could call it Kiss Central after tonight.
If Lex got the mood.
His Disney tape had run out and Clark had to put it on rewind. He could save it for later when Lex started to get closer to him. Maybe he be like in the movies where he’d sing on one knee.
It could be his secret weapon!
“What’s with all the towels?”
“They’re pretty comfy.”
“It’s very....primary. You don’t have a desk?”
“Nope.” He hoped his daddy wasn’t using the big pile of hay where he’d hidden it.
The rhyme had been, ‘one on one is a lot more fun’.
So no desks.
“Okay.” But Lex was getting fidgety.
“It’s better this way, see? We can stretch out and stuff.”
So Clark laid in the center of the floor and patted the towel next to him.
Lex sat too far away for his lips to reach!
“You gotta sit closer than that, Lex!”
An inch closer.
“C’mon Lex!”
Another inch.
“How are you gonna see the words?”
“I have great vision.”
Clark pouted.
Another inch.
“How are you gonna see over my shoulder?”
“I have an agile neck.”
Clark tilted his head.
Another inch closer!
This was so much fun!
“You can’t be comfy like that!”
“It’s proper posture.”
Clark patted the space next to him and opened his book.
“But your back will hurt. This is much more comfy.”
"I'm fine here."
"No you're not. You just don't know it. Here!"
Clark brought over a pillow for them to share.
Lex hesitated.
“I’ll bring another cookie?”
“No, thank you!”
Lex laid with him on the pillow. It was really something, having him so close that they could touch whenever Clark so chose. He couldn’t believe his luck was turning around. The kitchen had been a disaster. He didn’t want Lex mad at him. He had been scared Lex didn’t like him anymore and that was a thought that had almost made him forget his big plans.
But Lex forgave him.
And now he was finally within target range.
Right beside him!
“Now, do you need help with math or history?” Lex was dead set on studying.
Now all Clark had to figure out was how to change that.
“Math.”
“Then we’ll start with the basics. How about addition and subtraction?”
Lex plus Clark plus the same room. Minus parents. Plus Disney. How long till kisses?
