Plot bunny hop hop! Tired.

“Day two of our move to Nowheresville, a.k.a., Smallville.” Chloe spoke into her junior reporter tape recorder.
“There was lots of green stuff on our drive here. But nothing newsworthy. Except lots of animals got run over and their guts fell out. Especially armadillos. Note to self, write article on ‘Dillo preservation.”
Chloe kicked her feet against the car seat in thought while her dad worked some boxes of personal things for his office out of the trunk.
“Now we’re visiting the dooky factory. Note to self: is dooky a word? Maybe poo produce? Stinky station? Find a better tagline-”
“Chloe, manure factory will do. Reporters have to be professional. I can use crud factory on the other hand.” Her father mumbled the last but Chloe caught it anyway.
“Manure. Eww. Why do you have to work where it’s stinky again?”
“So I can afford to buy my fledgling Barbara Walters all the latest gadgets. C’mon now.”
“Okay, but I don’t wanna be her.”
Chloe slipped out of her seat and walked up to the doors of Lilliancorp with her father.
“Hey, I could have said 60 minutes.”
“Double eww. They’re even boringer! I’m gonna be under the covers! Evil doers beware!” She lifted her spyglass to her eye and investigated the numbers her dad typed for clearance while trying to maneuver the boxes at the same time.
“I can’t have a heart attack at thirty four, right?” Her dad must be worrying about her again.
“The heart association says yes. So we have to eat asparagus.” Chloe made a face though, because she hated it.
“Eww.” They both said and laughed.
They walked down the corridor after being let in by a buzzer and made several turns until Gabe hit an elevator button going up.
“To the top we go.”
“Whee.” She said glibly.
She had called her cousin on the phone before they left. Lois only laughed at her misfortune, but jumped at the mention that her dad was working for Luthorcorp. She said that there were bodies buried wherever Luthors were involved, but Chloe was having a hard time finding any trace of them. Not even one lousy skull or anything. At this rate her first newline would still have to be on the run over animals. And that corn had to be evil. Because...it was too yellow.
At this rate she was never going to get the Pulitzer!
On the floor they got off was certainly the highest, and Gabe had to use a special card and use his voice on a machine for the doors to open.
The double doors in the front of them were large and fancy, having the touch of newness that her father mentioned was redecoration for the person who moved in. CEO was printed in block purple letters.
“Who’s room is that?”
“My boss.” Her dad said a bit nervously.
“Don’t worry, daddy. You’ll do great!”
“I hope.” They walked to the left down the hall.
“If not, I’ll do an exposer on how mean they are to employees and take them down on ABC primetime.”
“Let’s keep scandals to a minimum this year, honey.”
“Shoot.”
Gabe Sullivan, Plant Manager was printed on the door of her father’s office. It seemed to have be redone as well. Inside was a big desk carved with rings and a very new and shiny computer that Chloe was dying to check out. There was even a big window with a view, though in Chloe’s opinion that wasn’t a plus, cause all there was for miles to see was corn, and all to smell was doo doo.
The phone rang just as Gabe put down the boxes.
“I gotta go to the bathroom.” Chloe danced.
“This is Gabe-” He waved at her that it was all right.
Chloe could hardly believe her luck. She thought she’d never be able to get away without suspicion on her father’s part. Any phone conversation her dad had to take was always over thirty minutes when he was at work. This was going to be her big chance after all. She took a deep breath and held her spyglass tight as she headed down the hall in search of clues.
There was a water fountain, some pictures of the board members on the wall, and one of which looked like red haired guy that kinda looked like a devil, but nothing too incriminating.
“Time for some subter-fudge.”
She crawled under the receptionists’s desk where the woman was too busy filing her nails, and made it to her goal. She bet that any big evidence was stored here.
She turned the knob on the big doors marked Lillian Luthor CEO, and silently stepped inside.
I’ll show Lois who’s the reporter in this family!
