I’ve never experienced such solitude in my life despite being surrounded by my own family and several other people. It all started with me drinking heavily in front of my parents. Maybe a part of the Indian value system is that children should care so much about how they are percieved by their parents and community that they hide their indiscretion? Maybe they aren't hurt that you binge drink, but that you don't care enough about their feelings to not do it in front of their friends.
