I think it's actually a good idea. Or if it makes you feel any better, it's what I'm going to do once I get my own place. I say go for it. (but be aware that there are some scary people out there...)

one of my good friends in the program met her current boyfriend on Eharmony actually and they have been dating for about a year now...very much in love. SO, it has its stigma, but love is love and if you find it who cares where you find it. I do hope though that you find it with me...in vermont. *wink*
