ok aside from the fact that since i upgraded to fucking QT7 i cannot hear any fucking sound on most movies, looking at the link in #16 made me snort!

Did you install Tiger? I haven't upgraded yet but I feel your growing pains.

Have you ever tried VLC media player? I use it as an alternate whenever Quicktime won't work. It seems to play almost EVERYTHING. It's not the greatest interface but it does work with different DVD regions and oddball files pretty well. It will also display subtitles if they're embedded in the film. I've had files where the sound was missing in Quicktime that worked fine with this player.

I give it a thumbs up!
