I know some of ya'll are all about the OC, but has anybody ever watched Gilmore Girls? Man, Wife Supreme just loves this show, she'll plan a weekend around an ABC Family Channel marathon. I dunno, I can see why she likes it even though nothing ever gets blown up and it had The Bangles on as a special guest when The Mummies would have been a lot ( Read more... )

Ok, time to come out and admit that I watch this show (thanks to Madame Casetta who pointed out the snappy dialogue to me and then I noticed all the hidden music and pop culture references that weren't pedestrian in nature). Any show that makes an obscure reference to The Shaggs and the Sonics gets my thumbs up.

I have to admit..that I sent the writers of this program a "Casetta Press and Swag Kit" that included a Backwash Scratch, Pop & Hiss T-Shirt and a Casetta Mix o' tunes and the husband and wife team behind the show sent me not just some Gilmore Swag (not what I realy wanted), but a personally made CD-R mix with some fucking cool tunes on it...Now, if someone in Gilmore land sports my swag on the show...that would make the show even cooler. I'm working that!

Hey, that's a cool idea....I never thought of making a press kit....the possibility of getting neat stuff returned is fun... I wish I had thought of that when Walker, Texas Ranger was on the air!

is this that the show with the mother & daughter team that seems to have switched roles where the mom acts like a teenager and the girl is really mature for H.S.? if so, i think i saw it once and did find the dialogue really annoying. witty banter is essential to a good show (Cheers, West Wing) but c'mon, it has to be believable!

I wouldn't say the mom is so much immature, but really really neurotic...

Yes, the banter isn't technically realistic, but the shows use of it doesn't annoy me so much as makes me realize how rare such conversation actually exists. And it not just the Gilmore girls...it's the entire town, even the diner waitresses appear to have amazingly charming social skills!

It creates a surreal alternate reality as quirky as Twin Peaks...

(and if you want to see a really bizarre parallel universe, check out "7th Heaven"!)
