One time, at band camp.....
Alright, this is my band camp post:
Sunday, June 26, 2005 - First thing we had to do was audition at the School of Music. After warming up briefly in the orchestra room, Josh and I went to the same old audition room we're in every year. Ah. We were farther back in line that we wanted to be, but it was all good because the trombone line went past the end of the trumpet line, so we were talking to Gene for a while. Shortly after, DJ arrived. There was this one kid named Andrew, I think, who was in band 4 with us last year, recognized me and asked me what my name was. I told him Amy, because that is afterall, my name. The guy right in front of me in line, said, "Wow, that guy's pretty creepy. He was my roommate last year." So I talked to him a little bit. His name was Patrick, and he was tres cool. I claimed that they put all incoming freshman in band 4 because thats what band me, Josh, Ari, Kevin, and Spencer were in last summer. Patrick told me that he went to HS band camp last year, and he was going to be a freshman, and he was in the second band. Psssssh. Anyway, after we auditioned, we had to go to Dobie to check into our dorms. I met my roommate Kim (aka FFA girl) and chilled out with her and Merissa for a bit. Soon after, we had a floor meeting where we met our counselor and all the other girls in our group. Our counselor's name was Sable, and there were 12 girls in our group. I know there were three Amy's, including myself, a Merissa, an Ari, as well as a Tina and a Persis. That's about all I remember. Oh and duh, Kim. Everyone was really cool for the entire week though. I <3 them all even though I don't know their names. All the groups walked seperately to the music building (probably a 1/2 mile trip) for pizza in the band hall. After that, we filed into Bates and listened to the results. Merissa, Ari, and Alex were placed into Concert Band 3. Josh and Scott got into Concert Band 2. And last of all, DJ and yours truly were put in Concert Band 1. Holy shit. I wasn't supposed to be in band 1, I know, because my audition didn't even compare to DJ's, but he was 10th chair and I was 6th. Yeah. I was pretty freaking terrifyed. There was obviously a mistake, because I'm not even in Wind Ensemble or anything. And Josh and DJ can both testify that my audition SUCKED. Finally, we had rehersal and went back to the dorms to sleep.
