There was a manditory evacualtion, but the people didn't listen. They stayed, waited for disaster to strike, and then sat there with their hands out and demanded help as they raped and pillaged their home. They are the people already on welfare, and now expect everyone else to help them when they were too lazy to help themselves. I do feel bad, but they could at least try and help themselves.

These people have no friends. The government has had little or no regard for them because of their partisanship, their poverty, and their race. They could not have left the city. 1/4 of the people in new orleans have no car, no transportation. Nothing was sent to collect them. The freeways were packed there was no other transportation; walking out would have been ridiculous. They had no other option. Airflights wer suspended, and none of them would have had money to pay for one anyway. The situation could not be won.

Yeah, Cami is right on this one. The people that were left in New Orleans were the ones with no way of evacuating- those without cars or money for planes or buses. The people that were left were the poorest of New Orleans. True, they did exhibit some pretty awful behavior, like rape, murder, and SHOOTING AT RELIEF PLANES, but the simple fact that they were not able to leave isn't their fault.
