We're still going through the heat at the moment sadly. It's been around the mid 33s the whole week. So I'm hoping it eases. Last we had one around 37. And that was insane. How are you guys going?
I know what you mean! I hope it eases on the weekend, although there were rumours it might rain, a big worry for a friend's who celebrating her graduation/birthday on the weekend. :)
It was her uni graduation. :) Her uni only does one each year, so it was pretty crowded last night with all students of different faculties and all
Yeahh. :( It's bushfire season for us. I'm hoping we don't get crazy weather like the previous year. It was awful. 42 was a killer and I was surprised the fireworks still went as planned. :D Humid and hot weather.
it's weird they do only one graduation though. is it a small uni?
It's quite big actually, but the buildings are scattered throughout the city (CBD) and I found it really odd that they only hold one graduation per year too. I think it's the only uni that does it, and they do a graduation parade where all the graduates do a walk in the CBD to Federation Square. Not even Melbourne Uni does that. Hahahaa. I think they're too classy for that. :) I remember my own grad was at the racecourse. Although my sister would have liked to take photos at Melb Uni, because their buildings are gorgeous. And it's a favourite haunt for cosplayer photographers, because of the old buildings. Some of the cosplayers did their HP photos at Melb Uni. :)
Woohoo! I was wondering if anyone was going to do the obligatory 12/12/12 post. Last repeating date for quite a while! The past 12 years have been mildly entertaining in this respect.
Have any 00q recs? It intrigues me yet not quite enough to be bothered digging through emergent fandom.
I remember really liking To Kill A Mockingbird, but it was a pretty depressing book. I think it was a lot better written than Wuthering Heights, though, and I enjoyed the duality in the plot. I won't say anything more for fear of spoilers.
I know right? Hahahaha. I can't believe twelve years has passed so quickly and to think it would end in my zodiac year. :)
I got some recs on my delicious page. Read all of Linc's work. :D :D
I actually wanted to read it, because it's one of the classics that everyone ought to have read and how it's quite influential. Especially in the light of the South and the racism and the fact it was defending an Black man accused of raping a white woman. So I was quite interested.
To Kill a Mockingbird was required reading when I was younger (she was from my home state) and I can honestly say, I've never actually managed to finish it let alone start it. But I've seen the Gregory Peck movie a bunch of times.
To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the popular books that high school students study during year nine and ten. I remember the teacher recommending it but none of us picked it up, being distracted with Shakespeare and all.
Sometimes I think that the movie may be better than the book, although that isn't always the case. But it's nice to see someone's interpretation of a particular novel. Golden Compass is an exception though. Horrible movie.
Thank you! :) I'm actually hoping to go through all the popular classics and read them, because they're called classics for a reason right? :) Although not too fond of Dickens, he's a tad depressing for my liking. Most likely I will go back and read Good Omens again or fantasy again.
