So I'm still in Sydney, seeing all the sights again. I need to travel to the other states, considering I've gone here trice. But Sydney has Kino, so I'm willing to make concessions and a mean green tea soft serve
( Read more... )
I almost got run over by car there too while crossing the road through lights that were clearly red for vehicles... Driving there yourself is, well, even more interesting in just how tight the roads actually are compared to Melbourne.
Same here!! It's was my right of way, because green man and all and he wasn't stopped. Not to mention, they're all car horn crazy. Honking each other every ten minutes. I wouldn't try driving in Sydney, not even for the experience. It's too congested. :( I'm surprised you were game, lol.
What are the bookstores left in Melb anyway? I didn't get much time to go around the city the last time.
Anyway, for the S'pore Kino, we have 3 branches that are quite diff from each other. One's a small transit sort of store, another catering more to the Japanese living here and the main one (where I'm at) with English/Chinese/Jap/French/German sections though the Jap's section's services are not as specialized as the second. We are gonna open another branch this year... as that location is near some unis so I think the selection would be more academic...so there is still some hope in the bookworld. Nothing like holding a book in your hands =D
There's a mini dymocks around here. And of course the usual discount places, which have bad books since they're all tacky ones. :( There's a romance one near Elizabeth Street.
Ohh. Kinda like Japan then with all the kinos everywhere. :D yes, nothing like holding it, ebooks are nice and all but they can't replicate the new book smell :(((
