Time is nearing...

I'm cooking a pot of black beans, because all I have been thinking about this week was things like Filiberto's burritos with a wad of cheddar cheese and guacamole, tortilla chips, and horchatas. Ugh. How I miss even the worst of authentic mexican food chains... I will now take the Arizonan "worst" over the complete lack of ( Read more... )

I never drove in the UK (or an automatic for that matter) but am learning to drive in the UK currently. At first though, I did get confused about the sides of the road, especially when I first moved. My two devices I used were:

"The right side is the left" and also that no matter what country, the driver is always in the middle of the road.

Also I'm sure you know, but just in case, you'll need to get a UK driving licence within the next 2 months if you want to continue to drive in the UK. The process is fairly painless, particularly if you already can drive. You might want to consider learning to drive a manual though. I have no basis of comparison but the hardest part for me is not the gears but general driving skills, which you already have.

Oh, that is definitely a goal for me, is to learn to shift gears. My husband is 32 and never learned to drive, so, it would be nice if we wanted to just rent a car that is inexpensive (which would be a manual) and go on vacation, that I can actually drive it. So that is definitely a priority for me.

My mom can drive a manual, but she wanted to share driving duties, and she didn't want to have to stress and think about changing gears while simultaneously driving in a completely unfamiliar place. So she opted to spend the extra to rent an automatic.

But definitely, I want to at least get a UK license before the end of the year.
