[Peter walks purposefully up the street, determined to hit the high school up and try to figure some things out. He nearly has a heart attack when he hires a gunshot not twenty feet away. He dives to the ground, eyes darting wildly. Where, oh where is that Spider Sense when you need it!?]

[Pete nods sympathetically. He'd been so caught up in thinking about what he'd lost that he didnt even realize that he was in luck compared to others. Others being women. He lost his abilities and his costume. She, and they, had lost abilities...and gender equality ].

[Kono was feeling better, but wow that rant shows that it's still bothering her. Kono's used to being acknowledged as something like an equal, as well as being able to run and move and do something that's actually worthwhile with her day.

Hey! You know what might be fun? Skip work one of these days, next time you're down, and swing by the high school! I'll probably just make them do math problems, or make them write out a formula for the number of times they can kick a drone before it expresses mild disappointment in them. It'll be fun!

Seriously, I don't even know what to expect. What if it's...some kind of trap? Or the curriculum involves brainwashing? Am I supposed to sit in teacher conferences with a bunch of braindead creeps and go along with it all, like a grown man trapped in some giant Barbie playset?

Well, my job's not a trap. It just sucks. The curriculum probably is brainwashed, but does it matter if you really teach it or not? Unless they'd drone you for that too.

And not everybody here's a drone. Maybe your class will be like half and half.

Hm... Yeah. You might be right. ...Y'know it's funny. Outside Mayfield, I picked up a job at my old high school, partially cuz... I didn't have a hell lot else that I could do to pay rent at the time. But really I think it's because I thought I could make a difference, or at least help out any kid who wasn't fitting in but had a bright mind and a lot of potential. ...Kinda like me, in my dorky, easily-bullied youth.

But here? It's like a perversion. There, I was working in the present for a better future. Here, i'll be spinning wheels in the past, trying to get back to a decent present.

I think we just have to keep working on trying to get back to the present, you know? When I first got here, some people were talking about an alliance or teaming up to try to figure out how to get home. This one woman, Olivier, she had a letter that outlined where I was, what had happened, and not to drink the milk.

If we keep trying, then we can get back. It just might take some time.

Yeah, it kinda is. But I think that's the point. I guess we're just letting it get to us today.

[Kono tries to shake it off, and does a pretty good job of it. Shooting the cans and venting has helped her perk up a little bit at least.]
