[Action A - Around Mayfield, December 26th]
[It's been a rough couple of weeks for everyone, but at least things seem to have settled down now.  Kono's hoping to never spend another Christmas in Mayfield, not if she has something to do about it.

Today, though, she's spreading a little bit of cheer.  In her stocking she got a few sweets, but also two ( Read more... )

Action B

[This neighbour was just passing by... until she saw the snowman.]

I don't get it. How's everyone just so fuckin' okay with everything?

[Kono looks up at the voice.]

I wouldn't say ok, exactly. Maybe the snowman is a distraction? I don't have snow back where I'm from except way up on the mountains.

Are you new to the street? I haven't seen you around.

Still, we all just had a really fucked up week.

... Yeah, I guess I am. I've been here since... [She brings a hand to her face.] Shit, it's been like three weeks already?

Yeah, time flies pretty fast. I've been here since October.

[Kono stands up and brushes the snow from her pants.]

I'm Kono, by the way. Kono Kalakaua.

[Tony can't help but notice the pretty Hawaiian with the lei strolling by, heading to different houses, from what he can tell. Never one to waste an opportunity, he calls out to her from the other side of the street.]

Aloha kakahiaka!

[Kono turns. The guy she finds is obviously a mainlander, not Hawaiian, but she gives a smile for the greeting anyway.]

Back at you, brah. Been to the islands?

Only a few times, really. But I make it a point to pick up a few select phrases wherever I go.
[He has yet to use that phrase in it's proper context yet, but at least it's shelved and waiting for the right time...]

I should get to know someone with a sunnier perspective, though. You, for example.

Oh, hi! How's your pond working out? It didn't freeze over when it got really cold, did it?

Nah, it was good. I love having it, thank you.

((That's fine, busy time of year))

Oh, good! I didn't think it was cold enough, but I wasn't sure exactly.

Hey, with as cold as it got, I wouldn't have been surprised. I hope none of that hit you too hard.

[Peter trumps home from another weird, pointless day at work. He comes home to find a package on his doorstep. He grins, then cautiously prods it with his foot before picking it up and opening it up. What he sees makes him arch an eyebrow, then experimentally flex a muscle.]

[Kono watches him flex from the street. What is he doing?]

Hey, you trying out for Mr. Universe over there?

That's Captain Universe to you. Ex... Captain Universe, but still counts...

Top o' th' mornin' to ya, Kono! Check it out -- I was a good boy this year.

[Kono looks at the photograph, then up at Peter.]

So you got your spider strength back? Cool. That'll definitely come in handy around here.
