Samantha stood watching Janet and her father do all that they could do. Alarms were going off as they all realized that Daniel might not make it even with the help of the Tokra. Feverishly they worked until Jack stepped in. Samantha had no idea what he said until it was too late. The frenzy stopped. There was no hope; Samantha knew it as well as everyone else in that room, and yet they did. She looked away when the barely bleeping heart monitor went red. She could hear the long solemn tone of the flat line. The room grew quiet while she stared at her shoes. Turning back only to have her eyes stung by the brightness of Daniel’s ascension. As he floated higher her heart broke. Pieces followed him as the light faded. Samantha looked at her shoes again hoping no one would see her cry. She must be strong Daniel would have wanted that. Parts of her though, would never be the same. In all the time at the SGC, she never felt broken. However now, losing the only person she could talk to with out the eye rolls, or raised eyebrows. She was lost…broken.
