Summary: The monster inside Jasper lusts for human blood. When the desire is too strong to resist, there is only one who can help. Carlisle tamed this monster once, and now he must try again.
Stepping out of his jeans, Jasper slid open the glass shower door, moving underneath the spray of hot water. He let the steaming liquid run down his back, warming the hard muscle and frozen skin. Tipping his head back, the empath soaked his knotted hair before washing it, slipping his hands over the rest of his body as he washed away whatever remained of the sins he committed in New York and Canada
The bathroom was clouded with steam by the time he was done.
The vampire stepped out of the shower, grabbed a fluffy white towel and began to dry his hair and shoulders. Glancing up into the mirror, Jasper saw James standing in the corner of the room, watching him with unnerving intensity. Inhaling quickly, Jasper wrapped the towel around his waist. “What are you doing?” he demanded.
James smirked, and all Jasper wanted to do right then was tear that smile from his lips. “Watching you.”
“Yeah, I can see that. Why are you watching me? I’m fucking naked.”
“Oh, I can see that.” James chuckled, a nasty sound.
Jasper stared at the hunter for a minute, brow furrowed in concentration as he focused on the other’s mood. Jasper felt the beginnings of arousal brewing in the hunter’s gut. It sent unnatural chills down his spine. “Get out.”
“But I don’t want to.”
“James, get the fuck out. I don’t need you starting a fight.”
“A fight with who? Edward, maybe? I could take him.”
“Please just get out, let me get dressed.”
“You look fine the way you are.”
Sighing loudly, Jasper gripped the towel tightly. “What do you want?”
“I have to explain it to you?”
“You can’t be serious… You decide you want me now? After all of the time we had, all that time alone, and you want this now? You’re fucking ridiculous, James! Get out.”
The hunter took a step forward. “Are you afraid of what poor Carlisle might think? Afraid you might hurt him if you let me take you?”
Jasper scoffed. "I’m not going to let you do anything. You’ve had your chance, and you wasted it. It’s too late, just fuck off!”
“No.”
“Then explain to me what happens next. I won’t bend over for you, James. And you won’t leave. So what happens?”
James considered this, his lips turning up into a frightening grin. “Nothing, I guess. But don’t worry, sweetheart, I can wait.”
“You’ll be waiting for a long time.” Jasper spat.
“Only a long time? Not forever?”
There was a knock on the door. Or, really, more of a pound. “Everything alright, Jasper?” It was Edward. Of course, he already knew what was going on, but Jasper assumed that Edward was trying to avoid a fight just as much as he was.
“Yes, thank you, Edward. I’m on my way out.”
“I’ll just wait downstairs for you, then?”
“Okay.”
“He won’t always be around to rescue you… Or to rescue Carlisle, for that matter.”
“Don’t waste your threats on me, alright? I brought you here because I want to help you. Don’t make me regret that decision.”

Carlisle came to Jasper that night. He was fresh home from the hospital, still looking every bit the handsome doctor.
Setting his briefcase down on his desk, he went to Jasper, who was sitting on the sofa, legs curled beneath him, arms wrapped around his knees. Taking a seat close beside the empath, Carlisle placed a calming hand on his shoulder. “Edward told me you were thinking about hunting. He told me you're hungry. Are you alright?”
“I just want to forget them.”
“Forget who?” Carlisle squeezed his shoulder, massaging the tense muscles.
“Humans. I hate being like this. I want them, I still want them. And I’m hungry, and the first thing I thought of was a nice, juicy girl.”
Carlisle smiled. “It is completely natural, what you are feeling. In fact, I would be concerned if you were not craving human blood.”
“So what do I do? I can’t let myself become starved, like before. I’ll only go insane again. And I won’t drink from another person, I just won’t let myself do that... Not after everything...”
“Animal blood would do absolutely nothing for you, would it?”
“No, Carlisle. I doubt I could even stomach that shit right now.”
The doctor laughed and leaned toward the younger vampire, taking hold of his hand. “I can arrange for us to spend the night in a hotel…” Carlisle let the idea linger, knowing Jasper would understand what he was really offering.
The empath turned his head away. “Why have you changed your mind?” he whispered.
“I don’t know.” Carlisle sighed, touching Jasper’s face with his fingertips. “All of us have changed in the time you were gone. We can’t lose you again, Jasper. I can’t lose you again.”
Jasper wished he could cry, just so he could release some of the emotions overwhelming his senses. “I can’t be sure that I won’t hurt you…”
“You won’t.”
“Why are you so sure?”
“Because I trust you.”
