Title: To Please the Monster Inside [Chapter Two]
Pairing: Carlisle/Jasper
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Fiction
Summary: The monster inside Jasper lusts for human blood. When the desire is too strong to resist, there is only one who can help. Carlisle tamed this monster once, and now he must try again.

He was waiting, just as he said he would be.

Jasper slipped into the doctor's office without a sound. Carlisle didn't bother to look up, not even when Jasper perched himself on top of the large desk and stared at him.

He did smile, however, as he felt unexplainable desire sweep through his body. Of course he knew that desire was not his own. But still, it felt nice.

Fifteen minutes passed and neither vampire spoke. Carlisle's honey eyes never strayed from the pages of his book, and Jasper's never looked away from the doctor's pleasant face.

Sighing, Carlisle lowered his book onto the desk, marking the page and briefly closing his eyes. Opening them, he met Jasper's heated gaze and frowned. "Do you want to do it now?" he asked quietly.

Jasper shook his head, slowly to the left, then the right. "Not tonight." he smiled. "I just came to see you... just wanted to watch you. If that's alright?"

Carlisle considered this.

He nodded and reopened his book.

Carlisle felt a wave of contentment wash over him. And he smiled again.

"Thank you..." whispered Jasper. He sat, motionless, not even breathing, not blinking, just watching.

Outside the office, standing in front of the closed door, Alice listened. Her sweet face gave away nothing of what she felt; sadness and terror, sorrow and guilt. She had seen this in her mind a thousand times. Replayed the images over and over until it hurt. The visions never changed, becuase Jasper's decisions never changed. His choice was made, and his future was determined. All Alice could do was watch as her mate chose his path.

"Could you stop reading now, Carlisle? I have decided... I need to talk."

Without hesitation, the doctor marked his book and placed it on the wooden desk in front of him. He looked up to meet Jasper's eyes, his handsome face composed, as always, of kindness and peace. "What is it?" he asked, his voice was pleasant.

Jasper stood, gliding around the desk to stand behind the older vampire. He inhaled, deeply, and placed his hands on the doctor's shoulders. Gently, he suqeezed, hard fingertips digging into the cold flesh beneath them.

Minutes passed in silence as Jasper massaged the doctor's shoulders, his back, his smooth, strong neck. More than once, Jasper heard a sigh escape Carlisle's lips. He knew the doctor felt good, he knew it because he could feel it.

"Jasper..." Carlisle breathed, "You wanted to talk?"

"Mmm, yes. I did." His hands stilled, resting on Carlisle's shoulders. "Should I stop this? Does it distract you?"

"No, Jasper... it feels nice. Just talk to me, like you wanted."

"Yes, okay." His hands began their caressing again, squeezing just a little harder now, digging just a little deeper into skin and muscle. "Well, I have questions for you. Not many. Just a few."

"Then ask them."

"I will."

Jasper leaned in, pressing his nose against the curve of Carlisle's neck. His lips moved against cold skin as he spoke. "I was wondering... why does it quench my thirst for human blood, when I drink from you?"

Carlisle was silent.

"Carlisle? Tell me why."

"I don't know why, Jasper. I don't fully understand it. Actually, I don't understand it at all. Also, I don't really care to. If it helps you, that is all I need to know."

"Doesn't it bother you? Don't you think its strange? There must be a reason."

"Of course there is. But I don't know what it is, and, as I said, I don't care to know."

"But... I thought... how often could I do it? Do you think... whenever the craving became too much... when I couldn't resist the pull... How often could I feed from you?"

Again, the doctor didn't speak. He leaned his head to the side, completely exposing his pale skinned neck to the thirsty vampire. "I cannot answer these questions Jasper. I have little experience with this. I will always be willing, though. Any time that you need me... I won't stop you."
