Title: To Please the Monster Inside [Chapter Nineteen]
Pairing: Carlisle/Jasper
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Fiction
Summary: The monster inside Jasper lusts for human blood. When the desire is too strong to resist, there is only one who can help. Carlisle tamed this monster once, and now he must try again.

Carlisle didn’t move as Jasper closed the distance between them. Didn’t flinch when the empath’s hand encircled his throat. Didn’t even blink.

“I am going insane. Its not just bloodlust anymore, Carlisle.”

The older vampire closed his eyes, his body becoming rigid as Jasper’s other hand travelled down his torso. Lower, lower.

The empath leant close to Carlisle’s ear, lips pressing against the side of his cheek. “There is something else inside of me. Do you know what it is? It’s a monster, and it wants to get out.”

Jasper licked his way to Carlisle’s lips, claiming them with violence.

The doctor didn’t respond to the kiss.

The hand around his throat squeezed tight, the other continuing its descent down his body, stopping at his belt, unbuckling it with aggressive ease.

“Are you going to rape me, Jasper?” Carlisle’s voice trembled with sadness.

The empath laughed. “I could try.”

The room seemed to be filling with a tormented energy - Carlisle’s grief, strong enough to crush the hardest vampire’s heart. And Jasper’s madness, hollow and dark, swirling like smoke through the air.

Then there was another emotion clouding the space around them. Anger and fear. Jasper smirked, recognizing the anger as Edward’s. But the fear… who did that belong to?

There were hands around his waist, pulling him from Carlisle with relentless strength. Muscles like steel pressed against his back. It was Emmett.

Jasper kicked out with his legs, growling and thrashing in his brother’s iron hold. “Some help would be real fucking nice!” Emmett called across the room.

Edward’s arms reached for Jasper’s legs, gripping them against his chest as he and Emmett carried their brother out of the room.

Jasper’s eyes fell on Esme as he was taken away. She stood beside Carlisle, her flawless, kind face smeared with horror. And that was when the empath realized, the fear had belonged to her.

Just as he was carried out the door, Jasper managed a quick glance at Carlisle’s face. Their eyes met, and the sorrow that circled the doctor’s body was so strong, the empath felt as though his skin were on fire. He heard himself scream as the pain of Carlisle’s broken heart overwhelmed him.

Jasper knew he would be crying, if only he were able.

And then everything went black.

Jasper didn’t think he was really unconscious. At least, not in the natural sense, the human sense. It was as if his mind had blocked out everything in order to shield itself from the power of the emotions both surrounding and possessing him.

He could hear voices and knew they were close.

He recognized the icy strength of Emmett’s hands still holding him.

And the familiar anger he associated with Edward.

Rosalie was speaking, but all of her words blurred before they reached his ears.

Jasper struggled to focus.

Then he felt a familiar presence, and for a second the fog cleared from his mind. It was Alice. Her love gave him a moment of comfort as he opened his eyes. And then another torrent of burning pain - Alice’s pain - washed over his skin.

And the blackness returned.

“What should we do with him?” It was Rosalie.

“We don’t even know what’s happening to him!” Edward's frustration was growing as he tried to read the empath's thoughts.

“He is giving in.” Alice’s voice was soft.

“What do you mean?” Emmett.

“I mean that he can’t fight the hunger anymore. Its too strong. He's giving in to it.”

“Then what do we do? Should we take him hunting?”

“That depends on what you intend for him to hunt.” Alice’s voice was dark now, almost unrecognizable. “He wants human blood. No animal can satisfy a thirst such as this.”

There was silence.

Edward stood and moved to stand beside Alice, trying to focus on her thoughts. She was blocking them. “Did you know this would happen?” He asked.

“I did not foresee it.”

“Do you know why?”

“Because I have stopped myself from witnessing visions of Jasper’s future.”

“What? Why?”

“Can you not imagine?”

“No. I can’t.”

“Because the things I have seen… They are breaking my heart.”

“What things?” Rosalie’s voice was careful.

Alice closed her eyes, her face painted with discomfort and pain. “It doesn't matter now... Jasper's future is in his own hands. He will make his choices and suffer for them if he must. I can't guide him through this madness.”

Jasper’s back arched as his eyes opened. His fingers clawed at the hands holding him, tearing and ripping the marble flesh.

He was lying face down on the sofa, his wrists held firmly behind his back by Emmett.

He kicked out with his legs, making contact with nothing but air.

A violent, piercing snarl broke from his chest as his black eyes surveyed the vampires surrounding him.

The muscles in his arms strained against the hands holding him down.

Managing to break his left arm free, he pushed himself up from the sofa.

Seconds later he was slammed into a wall, Emmett’s immovable body behind him. “Please don’t make me hurt you, Jasper. Please.”

The empath growled in response, twisting in Emmett’s vice grip, kicking holes in the wall with his feet.

“Edward!” Emmett’s voice was strained, panicked.

Then he was being pulled away from the wall, lifted against Emmett chest, his brother’s powerful arms encircling his torso, pinning his arms to his sides.

Edward took a hold of his legs again. “Jasper! Listen to me! You have to break through this! Focus, please. Focus on me, my voice. Listen to me…”

Edward tried to keep his voice soothing, forcing his body to feel calm for Jasper’s sake.

Jasper screeched, the sound tearing through the house, echoing, hanging in the air.

“Alice!” Edward shouted. “Talk to him!”

“No, Edward. I can’t help him.”

“Then what do we do?!”

“Carry him to the car. I will drive. We need to get him away from Carlisle.”

“And then what?”

“I don’t know.”
