Hope Edward does the hunting,since Carlisle is weakened right now. Jasper's blood lust is for Carlisle, since he doesn't appear to have that particular desire for Alice. Strange.

It is because he has never drunk from Alice.

Carlisle is the only one Jasper has ever fed from. And he experiences great pleasure from act, so the hunger in him is always drawn to Carlisle, not Alice.

If Jasper did feed from Alice, he would experience something similar to that which he feels with Carlisle.

The thing is, Jasper is only able to feed from Carlisle because he allows it. And so, even though Jasper is Alice's mate, she is still a predator deep down, so it is likely that she wouldn't want him to feed from her.

Carlisle allows it because he is so strong,compassionate and dedicated to his vegetarian way of life.

Anyway, thank you for your observations. Sorry if my explanations aren't clear enough. But hopefully, by the time the story is finished, everything will make sense to you.

And I can't agree with you more about your opinion on vampire characters becoming too humanized in stories. People seem to forget that, just because they were human beings before they were turned, once they have been reborn - they are not human anymore. They can, of course, have human characteristics and qualities, but before that they have to be portrayed as what they are - predators, hunters, strong and animalistic creatures.
