Strange things are afoot at the Circle K

Ok, maybe not strange but what the heck? I've been noticing lately that there has been some kind of autism love fest happening. Big thing on NPR and TV (which does not lie) shows lately. Is it national autism month and I didn't get the memo or what?

Autism is the new black?

Actually, I think there's been a fair amount of scientific/research progress lately on what autistic people (kids) need to function better in the world.

That's a good way of putting it. It just seemed that lately I couldn't turn around without something going on about autism, it's cool and all but it was like ubiquitous or something.

It's a management thing. If you're up on medical research, the news is always at least 6 months behind on those things. One channel will decide it's the "big news" this month, and the other channels follow suit for fear of not seeming compassionate or knowledgeable. (NPR is only slightly less guilty)

Don't get me wrong, I like that the information is out there... if it wasn't in the news, research wouldn't get as much finding, etc... but their motives are mostly wrong.
