[N didn't have cake. He tried to get whatever sweets he could obtain from the student kitchen. Sadly, there was only a large assortment of cupcakes, from which he took three of them. (Who made these? He had no idea.)

He didn't expect someone at the door today, though. Who did he tell his birthday to? Not too many people, albeit a few still were informed. That also included a certain boxer.]

[Mac had the stuff wrapped and the cake in a plastic tin in a plastic bag. He was just grinning when N opened the door. Better make the generals. He held up the poorly wrapped present and the cake.]
