I have an English degree, but I tutor my students in basic math (nothing higher than basic algebra and geometry) and physics. To me, it's not that big of a deal because I either know the stuff already, or it's easy enough to find out. However, one of my previous co-workers couldn't even make a fraction into a decimal, much less help the students

I am very thankful for all the people who supported my education in my life. I'm kind of the opposite of you- my degree is science, but I take the amount of English/grammar/writing education I've had for granted sometimes. Even though I'm not a linguist or anything, I can be so baffled by people's awful grammar sometimes!
