Jeb’s favorite thing about living at the Palace was the ability to flip a switch and light up a room. Having grown up with the necessity of carrying an oil lantern between the rooms of his home at night, having electricity now was something he knew he would never tire of.

He made a beeline to the kitchen cabinet that had become his best friend in the last few weeks, as his nerves over the approaching wedding threw his appetite into a whirlwind.

A handful of cookies later, he took a seat on a low island counter and stared blankly at the wall, mind buzzing. He had left Raw sleeping in bed upstairs for the third time this week, though he suspected that Raw knew about his middle-of-the-night snack raids.

“You gonna eat them all, or are you planning on sharing?” Wyatt’s voice startled Jeb enough to almost send him sliding to the floor but he gripped the edge of the counter in time.

“Father,” Jeb blinked at the unexpected company, brushing crumbs from his palms. “It’s still hours until dawn, what are you doing up?”

“Same as you, I suppose,” Wyatt shrugged, folding his arms over the front of his thick robe. He walked up and stole one of the remaining chocolate cookies, taking a small bite. “Day after tomorrow’s the big day. Getting nervous?”

Jeb snorted, looking down at his blue pajama pants as he swung his legs. “I’ve been nervous for months.”

Wyatt leaned his backside against the counter next to Jeb’s legs. “No reason to be, son. You’re both lucky to have found each other. Very lucky.”

“I know,” Jeb agreed quietly. “I can’t...imagine not having him around. I love him so much, it scares me sometimes.”

“You know you can talk to me, or Glitch, anytime you need to, right?”

Jeb smiled, bumping his knee against his father’s hip. “Because you’re so open to talks about feelings.”

“Glitch has been a good influence,” Wyatt chuckled.

That sobered Jeb, softening his expression. “I never would have imagined you with someone like Glitch, but it’s pretty obvious how well you guys make it work.”

“Never taken all that much work, to be honest,” Wyatt shrugged modestly. “That’s how you know you’ve made the right choice, found the right person. Everything just falls into place.”

“Yeah,” Jeb nodded, mind drifting to the Viewer he had left upstairs. He jumped down to the floor, brushing the back of his pants into place. “I’m just gonna,” he waved a hand loosely.

“Go ahead,” Wyatt smirked knowingly. “I was just getting some tea for Glitch, anyway. He can’t get to sleep and he’s keeping me up with his mumbling.”

Jeb grinned and nodded. “Good luck, then. See you in the morning.”

“Night, son,” Wyatt patted Jeb’s shoulder then sent him on his way.

Glitch looked up from his writing when the door opened and Wyatt walked in holding a cup and saucer. “Are you sure we didn’t already get married and I just forgot? Because you really are a great wife.”

Wyatt rolled his eyes and set the tea on the desk next to Glitch’s journal on the desk. “Here. Drink.”

Quiet for a few minutes while he did what he was told, Glitch scribbled a few final notes before emptying his cup. He looked up as he set it down, catching the gleam in Wyatt’s eye. “What are you up to, mister?”

Instead of answering, Wyatt switched off the small desk lamp that was the only light in the room. He took Glitch’s hand and pulled him up, leading him over to the bed. Rather than sitting him down, he stopped. “Clothes off.”

“Oh,” Glitch uttered, then made quick work of removing his bedclothes.

“Lie down on your back,” Wyatt directed while finishing up stripping himself. “Get comfortable.”

“Yes, sir,” Glitch climbed into the center of the bed, the covers still pulled down from getting up earlier. He flopped down, lying back and tucking a pillow under his head and neck, keeping it below the zipper.

Wyatt followed, crawling over and using his hands to separate Glitch’s legs enough so he could kneel between them. He shot a quick glance up to see Glitch’s amused and tender expression then lowered his head, taking Glitch’s soft cock into his mouth.

Glitch sucked in a breath, tilting his hips a bit then closed his eyes, letting the feel of Wyatt’s hands holding him in place and the hot, wet sensation pull all the tension from his body. There was a long, slow build until he gasped sharply, the rush of completion sweet and bright and after that, he could only recall warm arms around him as he fell into deep sleep.

After stripping down, Jeb slid under the covers and spooned up behind Raw, who made a soft, contented sound and pushed back a little. With one hand, Jeb brushed aside the long hair and pressed a kiss to the side of Raw’s throat.

Raw shifted, turning his head and blinking in the darkness. “Okay?”

“I’m fine,” Jeb assured him, running his hand down Raw’s flank. “Go back to sleep.”

Instead of this, Raw rolled over so he was facing Jeb. Raising a hand up to stroke Jeb’s cheek, he studied his mate. “Scared?”

“No, not scared,” Jeb said firmly. “Just...the usual nerves. Which is stupid, because we’ve already been together for almost two annuals. It’s not going to be so different being together after we’re married.”

“Symbol,” Raw told him gently. “Make official. Real.”

“We’re already real,” Jeb argued, but he understood what Raw was saying. It was the public nature of the wedding itself, the fact that their union was going to be a matter of record for the rest of their lives. Not simply something they shared, but something everyone knew they shared. It was a daunting prospect.

“Would love you the same without paperwork,” Raw smiled gently, giving Jeb a light kiss on the lips.

Raw’s words enheartened Jeb and he surged forward, pushing Raw onto his back and kissing him senseless. The rest of the night was filled with movement and heat, tangled limbs and mindless delight, until the first light of dawn streamed through the pale curtains of the balcony doors and they finally fell asleep.

DG was halfway through her breakfast when she realized that her family was still the only ones in the dining room. “Where is everyone?”

“Probably sleeping in,” Azkadellia shrugged, popping a grape into her mouth.

With a wistful sigh, DG poked at her eggs with her fork. “Why do I feel like I’m surrounded by newlyweds on their honeymoon?” Ahamo chuckled from across the table and DG refrained from throwing a muffin at his head. “I need a man.”

“At this rate, there won’t be any men left for any of us,” Azkadellia giggled and ducked when a muffin was thrown at her head instead.
