So it begins. Missing scenes in the Perceptible universe!

Title: Perceptible - Missing Scenes - Breakdown
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: Raw/Jeb, Cain/Glitch, DG
Summary: Something breaks in Jeb. Takes place between part 1 and 2.

Cain and DG found them sitting on the hallway floor outside the brain room. Glitch had his back to one wall, Jeb pressed against him in an awkward sideways sprawl with his face hidden in Glitch's shoulder. Jeb's arms were tucked around the former advisor's waist while Glitch's thumb stroked the nape of Jeb's neck steadily. It was a scene Cain never in his life expected to witness but found absolutely charming.

Eyebrows reaching for his hairline, Cain cleared his throat. When Glitch looked at him, Cain's amusement faded at the stark concern he saw in dark eyes. Glitch spoke softly and calmly, which only made Cain's stomach clench tighter. "Find Raw," he said simply. "Something's wrong. He's...having some kind of breakdown or...or panic attack."

DG's hand brushed Cain's arm once, wordlessly, before she took off running the way they had just come, leaving Cain where he stood.

"How long?" Cain shook himself abruptly and shuffled over to crouch next to Glitch's open side. He brought a hand up to touch the back of Jeb's head, feeling the fine tremors that he couldn't see before.

"I...I'm not sure," Glitch looked down at the young man in his arms. "I came up to check on my better half and he was just standing in the middle of the hallway. He looked so lost and when I asked him what was wrong he just...kind of crumbled. Hasn't let go of me since. It can’t have been more than an hour."

Cain sighed, reaching up to rub his hand lightly over his son’s back. Jeb didn’t seem to notice his presence at all. “It’s been a long few weeks. Guess it finally caught up with him.”

“Poor kid,” Glitch worried his fingers across Jeb’s collar absently.

Moments later Raw dropped down behind Jeb and DG stood back out of the way behind Cain. Unsure if he could do anything to help, Cain receded from the other three men until his back bumped into DG’s legs. He felt her hand drop down onto his shoulder.

A few soft words and gentle touches had Jeb raising his head and turning toward Raw’s solid familiarity. Glitch handed Jeb over to Raw little by little until it was Raw who cradled the silent, trembling figure.

Glitch scooted over to join Cain, grateful for the heavy arm that draped over his shoulders and pulled him in.

“Raw?” Cain finally spoke, breaking the long silence.

The Viewer glanced up, one leather-clad hand cupping the back of Jeb’s head. “Disarray. Too much, too fast. Jeb need...rest. Time to breathe.”

There was no argument to that, as they all knew Raw was right. They all needed a break, if they were honest with themselves. Knowing there was nothing more he could do, with Raw taking care of Jeb as he had been since the end of the war, Cain recognized that it was best to leave them alone.

Cain stood, pulling Glitch up with him. Resting a hand on top of Jeb’s head for a brief moment, Cain met Raw’s eye. “Can you take him back to his room when he’s ready?”

“Yes,” Raw replied determinedly.

“All right,” Cain gave a short nod then wrapped his hand around Glitch’s arm. “Thank you,” he muttered so softly that only Glitch could hear him.

Glitch twisted his arm so he could take Cain’s hand instead, entangling their fingers. “Anytime,” he replied just as quietly. “Come on. I’m fairly certain Jeb’s in good hands.”
