Oh, you're welcome. And thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It was a bear to write, and it makes it all worth it to know it was read and appreciated. :)
Impressive writing and a soulful portrait of the less pretty (yet endlessly intriguing) parts of humanity VS. love and war. Got to love that. Thank you for the treat! ♥
Thank you! The crow thing actually came from a thought I had one day while watching an ep with Ba'al in it. Cliff Simon has these utterly amazing eyes, dark and glittery like flint, and he can make them appear so cold and dead, it reminded me of crow's eyes. And I thought that if you studied those eyes long enough, they'd haunt you.
And then it was easy enough to mix Domitian and Ba'al in Jack's mind, to make Ba'al's eyes the epitome of evil...
This is absolutely beautiful - angsty and sad and hurting and heartfelt and gorgeous.
I love that they both have to change, to suffer in order to be together. I love that Jack is so terribly selfish, because love IS selfish. And it isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Thank you! You're so right. Love is selfish, and I think it is in Jack to be this way, especially if something happens to take his restraints away. And I kept picturing the way he'd have to change Sam, gradually, in order to take her with him. But she's so susceptible to him...

I have no idea where you came up with the black crow idea, but it works beautifully.
