For a long time, I didn't think AFI had changed me in any fundamental way. A lot of people are very personally and deeply affected by the lyrics and/or the band, but I didn't think I was one of those people. I was reading a NY Times article comparing the vibe of the crowds at Obama rallies vs. at McCain rallies when I came across this paragraph toward the end:

This election has gotten me so nervous, I can't concentrate enough to work on fic. I keep hitting the refresh button on major news websites, kinda like those OCD lab rats who keep on pushing the giant red button that zaps them. I need this thing to be over, like, NOW. -
Sixth Sense Challenge
I have an idea for the challenge! Yay! Unfortunately, I don't know if the idea is as cool as I think it is. We'll see how it comes out in the execution. This is what I thought about during my long-ass commute home today
Okay, so everyone knows the philosophical question "If a tree falls in a forest but no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" I was thinking about it today during my hella long commute, and for me the question is really: does sound require a receiver to exist? If there is no one on the receiving end, does it still count as sound?

Today I spliced together two chapters that were originally written as separate chapters. Each was built around a specific scene that was supposed to resonate on its own, so I thought that this meant each merited its own chapter. Not so. It screwed up my timeline, so I had to splice the chapters together to get the scenes in the correct order. The ( Read more... )
