what not to do

advice from Sursamajor:

Never drive up a steep mountain in the dark, in a hailstorm with probable tornadoes, in a little tuna-can which Enterprise seems to think is a car. And especially don't do it while dangerously sleep-deprived. But if you ever do, be very, very happy you're still alive.

Also: never laugh while eating beets.

Good advice, but what inspired it? There must be a story there somewhere!

Well, I had roasted some beets and turnips (yum!) and was watching a very silly anime... Oh, the drive: I was going to the Sewanee medieval conference. I should have stayed home. Usually that conference is blissfully springy, but this year it was cold, wet, and miserable. Oh, well. At least this year I'm not in need of a break from Toronto winter. Hope you're getting some spring up there!
