I made this post to fulfill an assignment of Writing class I attend this semester. The assignment was to read 16 articles or journals with the topic based on self-interest, then to make a summarize out of them. Each article or journal may be summarized in about 100 words. Emotional Intelligence (EI) is apparently one of the factors that can affect, whether directly or indirectly, the translation quality of a translator because it influences one’s academic achievement and performance, creativity, emotions related to decision-making and also their writing performance and their ability to understand other people’s perspectives.
Based on earlier studies of the same topic, some results show that there was not a significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and translation quality while some others show that there was a significant relationship between the two variables.
This study has the same finding as the previous one, that there is not a significance relationship between EI and translation quality, which makes the issue of the impact of EI towards translation quality keeps on going.
Even then, it is suggested that translation educators should consider the concept and the important role of students’ Emotional Intelligence in translating activity. Also, it is recommended to develop a comprehensive curriculum concerning students’ emotional intelligence for their own benefits.
