Dennis Creevy is such a surprise. Why did he seek me out today? The only thing I can think of was that I was the first person he saw. He is a little odd but still a nice boy, if a little nervous at times. We've never really talked before, just once and only during the DA, if I remember correctly.
Dennis Creevy: After dinner, Dennis walked out of the great hall to find Susan Bones crouching near the marble staircase doing up her shoelace. “Hi,” he said as he approached her, grinning nervously.
Susan Bones: Susan had just finished dinner and was walking down the corridor, thinking about how much homework she had left for Arithmancy, when she noticed her shoe was untied. As she tightened the knot, out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone exit the great hall. She was surprised when Dennis Creevy came over and said hi. Straightening up and throwing her braid back over her shoulder, Susan asked: “Have a good dinner, Dennis?”
DC: “Yes,” Dennis said, still nervous. It was now or never. “Can I ask you a favor?”
SB: Susan was curious about this, as she hadn't talked to Dennis that much before. It was mostly during DA lessons the past year that they had spoken, and then it had only been about spellwork and such. "What's on your mind?" She asked, simply.
DC: Dennis took a deep breath. “Well, I was wondering...I mean...can I...erm, do you mind if I draw you?”
SB: A bit startled by this, Susan asks: "Draw me? What for?"
DC: “Well, if you don't mind my saying so, you are very pretty!” Dennis was furious when he felt himself turn bright red.
SB: "Oh." Susan had not expected this answer, though she felt rather glad to have been complimented. Still, nervous as he seemed, Dennis seemed rather keen on the idea. "What is the drawing for?" She asked slowly, aware of the flush color that was slowly creeping up Dennis’ face.
DC: Dennis' stomach turned over. "Well, I like to do sketches of people, and I just thought that it'd be really cool if I could do one of you." Real smooth, Dennis thought, commending himself.
SB: Feeling flattered, Susan thought that it was an interesting idea. No one had ever drawn a picture of her before. "Alright," She agreed. "When?"
DC: Yes! Dennis rejoiced silently, smiling slightly. "Erm, what about tomorrow, right after dinner? I think the library would be a good place." This was turning out to be a very good night; Susan is so nice, and so very pretty, Dennis thought. She will look lovely on paper.
SB: Dennis seems very eager to do this, Susan thought, seeing the somewhat goofy smile that was present on his face. "That would be lovely," She said, giving him a genuine smile. "I will be looking forward to it!"
DC: "Great!" Dennis said, turning to walk up the stairs. "I am looking forward to it, too!" He was so busy making sure his tongue wouldn't get twisted that he tripped on the first stair, and nearly fell on his face. Dennis turned beet red again, afraid to look up at Susan, sure she would be trying to smother a laugh.
SB: Susan jumped in surprise. "Oh dear," She said, quickly moving toward Dennis. "Here, let me help you." She said kindly and extended a hand out to him.
DC: Dennis took the hand offered, still completely embarrassed. "Th-thank you." He stammered, using the leverage to stand up again. In the back of his mind he realized that he was holding Susan's hand.
SB: Sensing that Dennis was a little shaken, she let go of his hand. "No worries," She said to him kindly and with a smile. "So, did you go to the party on Friday? I don't remember if I saw you there or not...It's hard to remember anything from Friday night with the amount of...um...strong beverages that were present." Susan smiled, feeling slightly guilty about her overindulgence. "Fred and George sure now how to make a party fun." She chuckled lightly.
DC: “Oh yes, it was great! Really loud, too.” Dennis replied, exuberantly, grateful to be on another subject so as to forget how clumsy he had been a second ago.
SB: "I remember that much!" Susan laughed.
DC: “My brother wouldn't let me drink, though.” Dennis said, shrugging. “He said I was too young.”
SB: Susan sighed. "Well, I guess older brothers can be annoying. I wouldn't know, though.” She said quietly, glancing down at her feet and then back up at up at Dennis. “He's just looking out for you." She added, leaning against the stair banister, her arms crossed.
DC: "Yes, I s'pose," Dennis said, shifting his weight from foot to foot, suddenly feeling uncomfortable in Susan’s presence. "It's still kind of annoying though, he treats me like I'm a kid. I mean, I'm thirteen, I can take care of my self." Dennis sighed. "I think he's been avoiding me lately though. Probably still annoyed with me."
SB: "Oh," Susan said sympathetically. "I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you two should spend some quality time together...if you can find him, that is." Susan smiled slightly, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear that had fallen out of the braid.
DC: "That’s a good idea. Thanks!” Dennis said, smiling. "I'd better go, lots of potions homework, you know.” As much as he didn’t want to leave, he still had things to do. Besides, he was running out of things to say to Susan. She seemed so at ease with the world that Dennis felt like a fidgety little fly compared to her soft elegance.
SB: "Don't I know it! The Hufflepuffs have two essays!" Susan said exasperatedly. "I'll see you tomorrow after dinner then?" She asked, standing up straight and turning slightly toward the direction of the Hufflepuff common room.
DC: "Cant wait! See you later!” Dennis said and turned to walk up the marble staircase, placing his feet very carefully this time.
SB: "Bye!" Susan replied cheerily, turning around to head back, wondering all the while why Dennis had picked her to draw, of all people.
------------------------
I had no idea that Dennis like to draw. I guess I should get to know people a bit more, I'm sure I will always be surprised to find out their likes and dislikes. I got the feeling that there was more to Dennis' reason for drawing me than he was letting on. He did say that I was pretty...I don't know, maybe he just said that so I would agree to do it.
And then Ginny caught up with me. I told her about dennis wanting to draw me, I think she was a bit surprised too. She had to run off quickly, though. It was good to be catching up with the people that I haven't seen since before break.
It's getting late. ::yawns:: I guess I'll have to finish my homework tomorrow!
