There was some part of Susan that was belittling herself even as she got ready. Why couldn't I have gone with them? Why am I here alone? So tired.

I don't know what to do. No idea where to go.

The lab was going full force. Computer print outs, the long wall written on with various formulas. She was dressed in jeans and a lab coat, her hair pulled up as she pondered the latest calculation on the board.

Word had been left she was taking guests, a short list of names that could come in. Dante. Johnny. That last one got an odd look.

The building was relatively empty, all things considered. The lab packed dwon to the things she couldn't live without for her own work, most of the floors empty. Music played softly in the background and Sue was curled up in one corner of the new sofa - She couldn't stand looking at the steel and fireproof one that she'd gotten because of Johnny.
