It was of course much more fun to have a picnic when there weren’t monsters, aliens or maniacal plants chasing you. …or maybe not, but neither Hiro nor Susan would admit to that.
Luckily for them that very rarely happened. On this picnic it was also lucky that the monster was allergic to the phosphates in the ham sandwiches Susan had packed.
“The picnic is ruined.” Hiro looked mournful as he came to check on Susan. “Not the tea though.” Susan said determined to look on the bright side. “Cheer up!” Impulsively she kissed him, full on the lips.
Hiro surprised, stopped time. Susan did not freeze, she opened her eyes and with her lips so close they were still brushing his, said mildly “That’s cheating.”

John's head rested on Susan's naked back as the sweat cooled on both of them. “So sex rehab was a success then?” She was languidly exploring the textures of his hands. “Absolutely. All twelve steps. I was a model resident.” Susan laughed, John turned his head and nipped her back, warning her to be still. Her nails bit into his hands, not enough for real pain, just enough to remind him she gave back what she got. John smiled. He rolled off her back and pulled her under, watching as her expression shifted from distant to focus on him, shifted from unreadable to hungry. “Show me.”
