It's funny, that's almost exactly what happens when I cry (which seems to happen at the drop of a hat sometimes). My face goes all red and splotchy, nose runs like a sive, and I end up with a horrible headache...the only thing even remotely attractive about it is that although my eyes do get puffy they don't actually turn red, and turn out looking very shiny and bright blue...but that's probably just because by comparrison to the rest of my face which has turned to a bright red at that point.
... what I'm trying to say is that yes, I too like the more realistic light you've painted Susan in. And I believe that by providing this more graceless version in contrast to that single tear makes it all the more poignent.
