Not for me, but I get it

There is no way I could care less about the super bowl. But, since most of the world doesn't give a shit about baseball, I get the drift. And it only matters in my world really in my Twitter feed which will today be filled with stuff I don't understand or care about. Yesterday, I was listening to NPR and three rap? artists or hip hop or something ( Read more... )

I too am hoping the various MLB parties can come to an agreement so that we can have a baseball season. Didn't anybody learn anything from 1994?

My Dad loved to watch both baseball and football - in fact, I think he liked watching football better because he played it when he was a teenager. I certainly had to go to enough football games when I was in the high school band (same high school as my father). So I will watch the Super Bowl again, in the 40th year after his death. (Thank goodness he taught me the basic rules of the game when I was a kid.)

Unfortunately what they learned from 1994 is that all the fans who cried a plague on both houses and swore they'd never watch baseball again... went back to watching baseball when it started up again, because, after all, they're baseball fans.

I really hope they get their act together. I don't pretend to understand either side's positions, but my general take is that the players, who have "won" all of the last several labor standoffs, are overly optimistic that the owners will decide that they have more to lose.

No Super Bowl love here either. I also prefer baseball, lifelong Cubs fan.

I was invited to hang out with the Petit crew at The Village Pub to watch the game... Pierre invited me as a formality, but he followed with, "But I'm sure you don't want to come." I just nodded my head. A fellow baker shockingly asked me if I didn't watch football. I told him I might be okay with watching the game if it was recorded ahead of time so we could fast-forward through the commercials. Jaws were dropped. "YOU DON'T WANT TO WATCH THE COMMERCIALS??" Nobody could comprehend my point of view. Heck, I ain't going to even listen to NPR tomorrow, because I'm sure they'll be talking about the commercials.
