As I reported already, yesterday I created a single use gmail account and then used it to open a facebook account. Occasionally there are groups that have info I want to follow. I had no intention of friending people or posting anything

I had a similar problem when they did their big "real names only" crackdown, trying to force everyone to change their name to something that theoretically sounded like a real name. My account was flagged with some kind of scary notice. I sent a support request saying that my "name" (not really my name) was a perfectly cromulent name. Then after a month or two miraculously my account came back to life.

One of my online news sources (might have been the Washington Post) set up a Facebook account with a middle of the road white middle class Jane Average profile. I think then that they just left the account alone, no posting or reacting, and joined a few very bland groups. They then just let it rip and watched their feed devolve into inanity and scammers. Interesting.

PLUS! I've always felt a bit snobby saying I don't "do" facebook when someone asks to follow me or points me to something. Now I can say I'm not allowed! Much better.

One was in FB jail for probably political comments, but he seems to have made or already had a second account.
