Been ready lots of books trying to fiqure out best way to parent my daughter. She is bright child with a difficult personality. She has the verbal skills of a 12 year old the grace of a 3 year old and the intelligence of an adult combined with difficulites with comprehension writing and math. School is damned hard Even her teacher doesn't care

OK I just read this. You can push and get her an IEP. You just have to insist. They tried that crap on me and my son ended up with an IEP and I am so glad I fought for it. He is a Junior and he has done very well with a few modifications. Also there is a way to work with kids that is different then anything I've heard of and it is positive and puts you in a position to be cool and calm but validates the childs feelings as real but helps to let them make some choices. It really is neat. Its called DBT. I will share more later. I need to find the info site on it. The skills are good to use on lots of situations and diffuses defensive attitudes from others you have to deal with.

I had to transfer schools (private to public) to get the IEP and modifications for her. She is doing better. Likes school now which is a miracle. Transfer of schools occured when I found out through her psycolosigts what was going on. She talk to him about it thankfully. She didn't was to upset me with it and the school teacher had scared her in to sumission. Summer break is almost her. Swim lessons sleeping in Vacation Bible School etc fun and games for her. Susan
