Siwon was slowly starting to come into consciousness. His eyelids felt really heavy, he didn’t even have the energy to lift them. Suddenly he felt coldness grace his forehead. He let out a groan at the quick temperature change. Someone had put a cold cloth on his forehead.

“shhhhhh”

Siwon heard the low hush, and felt a finger stroking down his cheek.

“uhh………headache…..” Siwon managed to say quietly.

The fingers moved to the sides of his cranium, he felt a flush of coolness slowly seep into his mind, calming down the hot pulsing. Siwon heard a low chinese song, the low sound waves permeating his ear drums in a pleasant hum. He had never felt this relaxed, serenity was taking over his being.

He felt so comfortable, his eyelids felt lighter, they slowly slid open. Siwon’s eyes widened, and he gasped. In front of him was the bookstore keeper, Siwon was resisting touching the soft looking olive cheek in front of him.

Hangeng was humming a soothing song with his eyes closed, and softly touched the pressure points on the sides of Siwon’s head. Under his fingertips he could feel Siwon’s head cease the heated pulsing. Hangeng didn’t notice the intake of air or the wide eyes in front his face, he was too focused on the song, and transferring the feeling of calm. When he touched Siwon he felt strange. He really couldn’t describe the feeling of touching Siwon, it was new, he really didn’t know what to call it.

The sound waves slowly faded out, and the fingertips left his temple. Hangeng slowly opened his eyes, the feeling from earlier was intensified when their eyes connected. He had to shake his head to snap him back to reality. He could never make a connection with someone deeper than acquaintance ship, there were very few exceptions. There were repercussions for emotional ties, and he knew that. No matter what kind of connection he felt between Siwon, it could never be anything more than knowing his name. Hangeng still wanted to have his fun though, no matter what he felt, he wanted to play with his opponent, he claimed it kept his mind sharp.

Hangeng smiled at Siwon, who started sitting up.

“Where am I?” Siwon said slowly.

“In a chinese bookstore backroom. I believe you were here for something before you lost consciousness.” Hangeng explained in slightly accented Korean.

Siwon let out a little chuckle, some of the words had been a little too accented so the translation was a little bit skewed.

“What’s so funny?” Hangeng questioned.

“Oh I am sorry. Your accent, that sentence was a little bit confusing. You are chinese right?” Siwon said with a smile.

Hangeng pouted a bit, and looked at the dimples proudly showing themselves.

“Yes. I just moved her 2 months ago from Beijing” Hangeng answered.

“I speak chinese” Siwon said carefully.

Hangeng was shocked. He had no idea, that meant Siwon had understood what he had said on the rooftop. He had to keep up appearances though despite that slight slip up on his part. A hand was waving in front of his face, Hangeng hadn’t realized he was spacing out.

“Sorry. It’s just so nice to meet another person that speaks my language. My korean is still a little rough” Hangeng said with a smile.

That was the second time he had seen the store keeper smile like that, his heart was starting to accelerate a bit. They kept a light conversation, they hit it off great, almost like they had been friends forever. Hangeng really enjoyed conversing with Siwon, besides Hyung Jun and Zhou Mi, he really had never connected with someone like this, and it worried him. He hoped the connection would not deepen, for both of their sakes. Hangeng needed to steer the conversation to get an advantage for himself, and stop falling in too deep.

“So Siwon, what do you do for a living?” Hangeng asked with faked curiosity.

“Oh I am a special agent with the police” Siwon said without hesitation.

Hangeng was practically dancing inside, he had brought down Siwon’s walls without even trying. Siwon was painfully ignorant to his mistake, Hangeng just kept his curious face on, he was going to get his information.

“So do you have any interesting cases?” Hangeng questioned.
Siwon looked hesitant for a second, but his mental light bulb turned on.

“Maybe you can help me. You know the mysterious deaths of mafia bosses? Well the suspects spoke chinese at the scene of the crime, so maybe they have ties with China” Siwon explained.

Hangeng just laughed internally, this was too perfect.

“Sure. I would be glad to help you” Hangeng said with a smile.

“Great! Let’s exchange numbers. And can you meet with me tomorrow?” Siwon said with his dimples in full display.

Hangeng was happily waving goodbye after walking Siwon to his car.

“Oh this is going to be fun” Hangeng said with a chuckle.

~~~
“Heng Jun!” Hangeng called from the front door.
Hyung Jun popped his head out from the kitchen, and made his way towards his elder.
“Welcome home gege” He said with a soft hug.
“What? There is a group hug without me? We can’t have this” Zhou Mi said coming from the kitchen and joining the hug.
Hangeng laughed as he hugged back his only family.
Once the two younger men untangled themselves from Hangeng, Hyung Jun headed back into the kitchen.
“So what brings you to our home today Mi?” Hangeng asked brightly.
“Oh Heng Jun and I got some intel today, and I thought we could all share” Zhou Mi explained.
“What a coincidence. So did I” Hangeng said confindently. “Oh is Heng Jun cooking?” He said as he glanced towards the kitchen.
“Yes. Unfortunately” Zhou Mi said with a tinge of regret in his voice.
“Let me guess…. Ramen”
“Bingo” Zhou mi said with a sigh.
“At least he cooks it well. You should see him try other dishes. I can never forget when he tried to make sandwiches” Hangeng said with a bit regretful remembrance.
Hyung Jun came out of the kitchen with his blue patterned apron, smiling and walking up to Hangeng, embracing him. Hangeng patted him on the head, he was so silly sometimes. Then Hyung Jun retreated back into the kitchen so it wouldn’t burn.
Zhou mi brought out some tea to the living room table for himself, and Hangeng. They waited patiently as Hyung Jun brought out the pot, and the chopsticks out. The next 20 mins were filled with the slurp of noodles and laughter that only close friends could hold.
Then it was time for business. They all sat down afterwards and explained about Kyuhyun and Siwon. They all exchanged smirks, and planned the next step. Hangeng kept the personal thoughts about Siwon to himself.
“Remember you have an important hit tomorrow, this guy is at the top of the pyramid of everything that has to do with thievery and has several murders on his hands.” Zhou Mi said with a serious tone.
Hangeng and Hyung Jun nodded. Then a small groan came from Hangeng’s room. They all rushed over, and saw Jung Min attempting to sit up in his bed. He had been out for several days, and he was finally waking up. Zhou Mi shoved the two out of the room, and commenced examining Jung Min.
“At least he is awake now Hyung Jun, aren’t you happy?” Hangeng said with his arm around Hyung Jun’s shoulders.
“Yes. Now only if we could find out who was trying to kill him that second time, and where his girlfriend is. I don’t even know where to start looking, she literally vanished into thin air” Hyung Jun spoke softly.
“Don’t worry we will find her, and the person who is responsible for this.” Hangeng said sofly.
Zhou Mi came out with a smile.
“You can see him now. He should be fine to start walking tomorrow. My herbs are the best. Just saying.” Zhou Mi beamed.
Hyung Jun rushed past Zhou Mi, and saw a smiling Jung Min sitting up in his bed.
“Missed me Junnie?” Jung Min said with a smirk.
“I seriously thought you were going to die. Then I wouldn’t have anyone to argue with” Hyung Jun retorted.
Jung Min signaled Hyung Jun to lean closer and brought his hand up…
Hangeng hurried into the room when he heard the cries of mercy mixed with laugher, and Hyung Jun had Jung Min in a choke hold.
“I TOLD YOU -hahaha- MERCY” Jung Min said through tears and laughs.
“Then don’t flick my forehead” Hyung Jun spat back.
Hangeng just cleared his throat and crossed his arm, glaring at Hyung Jun.
“But gege, he inflicted pain on my first” Hyung Jun tried to reason with Hangeng while keeping Jung Min in the hold.
“Doesn’t matter, now you are going to let our poor injured friend go, and go do the dishes.Jung Min you are gonna get killed one day by a reflex from him, leave him alone.” Hangeng scolded.
“Yes Umma/MaMa Geng” Hyung Jun and Jung Min said in unison as they released eachother.
“Now do you need anything Jung Min?” Hangeng asked quietly.
Jung Min shook his head and laughed at the retreating Hyung Jun.
Hangeng shook his head and slumped in the couch next to Zhou Mi.
“Mi, Am I really that Mommish?” He asked with a discouraged face.
Zhou Mi just giggled and patted his head.
~~~
“Siwon, you knew it would come to this”
Siwon was standing on a rooftop, his gun aimed at the masked figure speaking to him.
Suddenly he was standing at the edge, he had no idea how he got there. And with the slightest pressure on his back, he was falling, and approaching the pavement below…

~~~
Siwon woke in a cold sweat, bolding upright. He clutched his head.
“It was just a dream, Siwon” he said in gasps to himself.
He got up to the bathroom, and stared at himself in the mirror, his eyes were still wide with fright. Falling had always been a fear of his, but he had never dreamed about it. After he had sufficiently calmed down, he slowly slide back into bed and stared at the ceiling waiting for blackness to claim him.
~~~

Next morning at the station was a nightmare, there had been another warning letter from the phantom assassins, but they weren’t going small fry tonight. They were going after one of the biggest crime lords of the city, this one was big into thievery and murder. He would have guards and patrols everywhere around his hideout. Siwon was puzzled as to how he himself was going to get in there. Kyuhyun had a plan though, through a connection of his, he was able to get Siwon into the facility, but Siwon had to do the rest. They started planning out how the infiltration was going to go, and what to do in the event mortal means of protection were too little for the assassins. Siwon had to start patterning out their movements, if he was ever hoping to catch them.

As the clock struck 2 pm, he remembered about his appointment with Hangeng at the coffee shop, maybe he would help him.

~~~
“Hyun Joong!” Hyung Jun said brightly from behind the counter. That smile made Hyun Joong smile and made him feel human for a little bit. He never really had a highlight of his day before but Hyung Jun just made him feel warm.
The coffee shop was oddly empty today. Hyun Joong walked up to the counter and leaned against it.
“There isn’t anyone here today?” Hyun Joong asked quietly.
“Oh it’s always dead at this time of day. You are just late today” Hyung Jun said while sticking out his tongue.
Hyun Joong thought that he was….cute. Then he batted the thought from his mind.
Hyung Jun gave him a cup of tea, and sat down with him.
“Oh it won’t pick up for another 40 mins” Hyung Jun informed him.
“Ah” Hyun Joong mumbled in reply.
“So what do you do for a living Hyun Joong?” He needed to know what he was doing in that alley that night.
“I just get rid of things that people don’t want for money” Hyun Joong said expressionlessly.
Hitman. Hyung Jun thought.
“Oh. Sounds interesting” Hyung Jun said flatly.
Hyun Joong grunted back as a reply. Hyung Jun was losing him, until something happened that surprised him.
“Where…do…you come from?” He heard Hyun Joong say between sips, he had actually acknowledged his existence, maybe he was getting somewhere with him.
“I heard your hyung mention something about China but you are Korean” Hyun Joong supplemented.
“Oh I was born here in Seoul, then when I was 6 my parent and I moved to China where my father was working” Hyung Jun explained.
“So you never thought of coming back until now?”
“Well. That same year…my…parents…were in a terrible accident” Hyung Jun said trying to choke back his tears.
Hyun Joong hurried and took out his handkerchief and started dabbing the few escaping tears from Hyung Jun’s eyes.
“Thanks… sorry I still have nightmares about it, it never leaves me mind” Hyung Jun said quietly.
Hyun Joong was feeling a sense of unification with Hyung Jun, he had lost his parents to an accident too, and was bounced around from foster home to foster home. Never truly finding that place called home again.
“So what did you do after that?”
“Someone took me in, from the scene of the accident, and that is where my life began a new, and where I met my hyung” Hyung Jun said softly, praying Hyun Joong would ask him no more indepth questions about it. That is when a customer walked in. Saved by the customer quite literally. Any second later, and Hyun Joong would want details, details Hyung Jun just couldn’t give.
Hyun Joong just sat there thinking, why was his heart feeling strange, it was a weird feeling creeping up on him, and he didn’t know what it was….
